As part of the Waterfalling Adventure Tour 1.0, Dodiongan Falls is on our list of the must visit waterfall. Situated in the heart of Brgy. Bonbonon, Dodiongan Falls is just a few simple trek away in the jump off area. Easy breezy for not an avid fan of trekking but be sure to be on your trekking attire as it gets tough upon crossing the river.
Dodiongan Falls is a 20 metre or 65.5 ft high waterfall located at approximately 14 km away from Iligan City Proper. With the water sliding through a slide-ish rock from top to the torquise basin that you won’t think twice taking a good swim in the a-la-natural swimming pool. My body condition didn’t gave me mercy that I feel envious of my friends having fun swimming around while I just settle myself taking pictures of them. But believe me, looking at them plus the refreshing water falling down with a splinters of mist from the basin just made my day.
The waterfall is rarely visited by tourists which makes it more appealing to me. Clean water, greeny environment and if you’re lucky, you can have it all by yourself.
- Take a jeepney bound North (Sta. Felomina, Dalipuga, Barinaut, etc.) and stop at Barinaut terminal. (minimum fare)
- Take Habal habal and stop to the jump off area for Dodiongan Falls trail. (fare: PhP 35 as of April 13, 2014 travel time: 40-50 minutes)
- From the jumpoff area, take the upstream trail. (20-30 minutes trekking)
Tips: Bring umbrella, hat, cap and sunblock as it is an open trail going to the waterfall and insect repellent for insect bites.
